The North Central Forest Pest Workshop (NCFPW) is an annual gathering of persons interested in forest health issues facing the north central portion of North America. This region encompasses Manitoba and Ontario, Canada; and Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin, USA. The NCFPW attracts plant pathologists, forest entomologists, foresters, researchers, students, and more.
To facilitate thorough exchange of forest pest knowledge, the workshop alternates its location among participating host states and provinces. Local forest health specialists form an organizing committee and develop an agenda that usually includes a day and a half of indoor presentations and a full-day field trip. Other activities have included a fungal foray, poster session, slide contest, fun run and/or ice cream social (depending on the health consciousness of the organizing committee), banquet and lots of interesting informal discussions.
If you have questions about the NCFPW or want to be included on the mailing list, please contact Andrea Diss-Torrance at ncfpw1@gmail.com.
